Labsphere and International Light Technologies (ILT), sister companies in the Halma network, specialize in solving some of the world's greatest challenges - with light! Our core products measure, create, and reflect light, touching industries including medical, automotive, consumer electronics, AR/VR/MR, and remote sensing.Our core resource is our world-class team of innovators and experts, and we are expanding this team with a new Electrical Engineer. In this role, you will work with the Labsphere and ILT Product Development teams, helping make the next-generation solutions to our customers' diverse and challenging needs.Drawing from disciplines including systems, optics, mechanical, electrical, software engineering, and industrial design we're assembling the capacity to provide even deeper customer collaboration on highly precise opportunities across industries.The Electrical Engineer can be located from either the North Sutton NH or Peabody MA office, with semi-regular travel to the other location as needed, especially during the initial training period.Essential Job FunctionsAs a collaborative Electrical Engineer, you will:

  • Work with a team of driven, supportive, and highly skilled professionals in the development of Labsphere and ILT's next-generation electrical architectures for light measurement, technical lighting systems, and tunable reference calibration systems
  • Utilize electrical engineering expertise in a multidisciplinary team to design, build, and test new solutions to meet customer requirements and specifications
  • Work closely with and contribute to firmware design in embedded architectures
  • Investigate, propose, and build consensus for future technology solutions and design architectures
  • Lead the effort to improve configuration management from prototype to productionGeneral requirementsOur ideal candidate brings ambition and intelligence and should possess the following:Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent technical discipline
    • 2+ years of work experience in driving technical solutions in manufacturing and industrial environments
    • Hands-on experience developing integrated electrical hardware/firmware systems
    • Experience in both analog and digital domains, including designing with microcontrollers, layout, simulation, test, and verification
    • Experience and drive to plan and implement design process improvements
    • Proficient with hardware debugging tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers
    • Electrical circuit design (low voltage DC such as current regulators, op-amp circuits, communication busses, etc., some AC power systems)
    • Communication protocols such as RS232, USB, RS485, I2C, UART, SPI
    • A good communicator and self-starter, capable of working independentlyAdditional Skills Preferred
      • Experience with Altium is preferred but we will train if candidate has other experience
      • Experience in photonics, spectroscopy, optics, lighting or LED applications
      • Experience with low signal to noise measurement and circuit design
      • Experience in embedded firmware and application, deployment, and development
      • Programming knowledge in C, MATLAB, Python, Linux, LabVIEWQualities
        • Excellent skills in planning and communications, strong analytical capabilities, and an attention to detail
